Rally Class for 2009

What does “CAST” mean?  Are those mileage thingies in the Odometer Transit important?  So what is the stopwatch for anyway?  There are Traps?

On Saturday, March 7th 2009, the Olympic Rally Competition Association will present an in-depth class in, basically, How to Run a TSD Rally.  Among subjects covered is the convention of the General Instructions used by the Northwest Rally Council clubs.

This class is great for all rallyists, including the novice and the not-so-novice.  The session will consist of classroom instruction followed by a short rally as a practical exercise.  Among subjects covered will be:

  • Essential basics: #1 What is a Rally Road
  • Through Route Determinants: NWRC Version. We will focus only NWRC definitions
  • Numbered Route Instructions (NRI), Action Points, Signs
  • Controls & Notes: All along the way we will insert NWRC definitions
  • Managing Time and Strategy Tips (If time allows)

We assume you have run at least one Time, Speed, Distance rally so you know what to do to register for a rally, what a checkpoint procedure is and what to do at a route control.  If you have not run a rally yet, you are still welcome, but we will cover these points other than during class time… say at a break or on the fly in the test rally.

We would like to encourage you to attend with a full team: Driver and Navigator.  However, singles are welcome. We would pair singles with another single or one of our workers may drive while you navigate.

As of this posting, class hours will be from 10AM to 4PM—class to be held in Redmond, WA (specific location to be announced).  Class fee is $10.00 USD and it is advisable to pre-register.  For further information, please contact:
